James FITT, Yeoman of Hursley

James was baptised on the 2nd November 1719  and married Mary NEWLAND on the 18th February 1740 at Hursley.

In 1740 James held Parsonage Quarter, Little Mead, Brickhouse Meadow and the Waste of Manor of Merdon from Sir William Heathcote for eleven years at a yearly rent of £50-12-0.
In 1744, for a rent of £8-0-0 to Sir William Heathcote, he received the tithes from Parsonage Quarter and Little Mead.

James and Mary had the following children,

  • Mary baptised 9th May 1740 and buried 19th  May 1758 at Hursley
  • Anne baptised 14th April 1741, married John PERN of Sutton Scotney, on 4th October 1763 and was buried on 31st July 1814, at Hursley
  • James yeoman of Rookley, baptised 25th  May 1742 and married 6th September 1768 Mary NOYCE (1748 - 1818).   Buried 31st July 1814, at Hursley.
  • Edward   baptised 26th January 1744 and married 'Fanny' Frances ELLIOTTof Wherwell (c.1753 - 1818) and buried 18th August 1811 at Hursley of 'Pitt'.
  • Christian (daughter) baptised 26th December 1745 and buried 13th February 1746, Hursley.
  • William baptised 26th December 1745 and buried 4th Jan 1746, Hursley.
  • Sarah baptised 20th March 1749, married Moses MORGAN on the 14th February 1776 at Barton Stacey
  • Rachel baptised 20th March 1749 and  married 27th February1775 to Jacob PERN, born c.1770.
  • William  baptised 9th July 1751 and buried 17th  July 1751, Hursley.
  • William yeoman of Hursley at Standon, baptised 23rd February 1753 and married 11th November 1777 to Mary LAVINGTON.  Buried 10th January 1819

James died on the 11th November 1784 and was buried on the 14th.  Mary  NEWLAND was born on the 11th January 1708 and had died on the 27th October 1759 being buried on the 30th October.
